ABSTRACT
Vesnić, A., & Lelo, S. (2010). First record of Myrmica rugulosa Nylander, 1849, (Insecta, Hymenoptera, Formicidae) in myrmecofauna of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The paper presents the first record of Myrmica rugulosa Nylander in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through active collection of ants from the area of Vareš municipality, more specifically in the locale Pruga, seven individuals of Myrmica rugulosa Nylander, 1849 worker caste were collected. With the find of a new species from genus Myrmica Latreille, the number of species within the genus has been increased to eight.
Key words: ants, Formicidae, Myrmica, rugulosa, Bosnia and Herzegovina

SUMMARY
First species belonging to genus Myrmica Latreille, 1804 to be recorded in Bosnia and Herzegovina were Myrmica rubra (Linnaeus, 1758) under the synonym Myrmica laevinosi Nylander, 1846 and M. Scabrinodis Nylander, 1846 (Wasmann, 1898). Put of the 18 species from genus Myrmica Latreille, occurring in the western Balkan Peninsula, Montenegro (Karaman, 2004), Croatia (Bračko, 2006), Slovenia (Bračko,2000; 2007), and Serbia (Petrov, 2004), seven inhabit Bosnia and Herzegovina and they are: M. rubra (Linnaeus, 1758), M. ruginodis Nylander, 1846, M. lobicornis Nylander, 1846, M. Sabuleti Meinert, 1860, M. scabrinodis Nylander, 1846, M. schencki Emery, 1895 and M. sulcinodis Nylander, 1846 (Vesnić & Lelo, 2009). Myrmica rugulosa Nylander, 1849 species belongs to a group of closely related species marked as rugulosa group. Specimens of Myrmica rugulosa Nylander, 1849 were collected using hands and tweezers on 20 September 2010, in Vareš, Pruga locale. This first record of Myrmica rugulosa Nylander, 1849 irrefutably indicates the need for further research of ant fauna of Bosnia and Herzegovina. With the find of a new species from genus Myrmica Latreille, the number of species within the genus has been increased to eight.
