SUMMARY

Research of ihtiofauna in Bosnia and Herzegovina has a long history starting with written records made during the Ottoman period, i.e. mid-19th century (Heckel & Kner, 1858). From that point up to today ihtionlogical reserch have been contionusly conducted in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Vuković, 1980; Hamzić, 2003; Bogut et al., 2006), with the first ever salmonid fishery in Europe being construced in Ilidža in 1883. This fisery was constructed on rever Bosna and today this location is knowen as „Rimski most“ today.

J. Heckel and R. Knera presented the first list of Bosnian fresh water fish in a paper on freshwater fish of Austrian monarchiy as a supplement regarding Bosnian ihtiofauna (Heckel & Kner, 1858). Another list of specieas that should be mentioned is a papber by Z. Taler within who’s list of freshwater fish species of Jugoslavija is a list of species from Bosnia and Herzegovina (Taler, 1953). In his three monographies „Fish of Bosnia and Herzegovina“ (Vuković, 1963, 1977) and „Freshwater fish of Jugoslavija“ (Vuković i Ivanović, 1971), T. Vuković has given a detailed descriptions of all species and subspecies of freshwater fish found in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In „Aquaculture in Bosnia and Herzegovina“ A. Hamzić has given a detailed review of Bosnian ihtiofauna which he had updated according to changes in taxonomy and nomenclature (Hamzić, 2003; Lelo, 2005-2007; Hamzić & Lelo, 2006-2007). Finally, in „Biology of fish“ I. Bogut and his collaborators have adapted the whole list of ihtiofauna to contemporary biosystemtics of freshwater fish.

Tench, Tinca tinca (Linnaeus, 1758), a highly distributed species of fresh water fish, has been recorded on every list of species of freshwater fish of Bosnia nad Herzegovina. In Bosnia and Heregovina, it is an autochthonous species in the Black See basin, and it is an alochthonous species in the Neretva basin (downstream from hidroacummulation Mostar).

Apart form the bove mentioned watercourses, this paper also prsents data from A. Hamzić regardint tench inhabiting river Trebišnjica and also gives first ever data of tench in hidroacummulation Jablanica, which is part of Neretva river waterstream.
